When is a Book Club not a Book Club?

A. When the participants stay for over 4 hours, and discuss the book for, oh about 20 minutes (sorry Shauna -- we did appreciate your hard work!). B. When the under-appreciated topics of Chinese wok cooking in the maternity ward and YW leader modesty come up. Discuss. C. When the particpants laugh so hard they cry. Loudly and repeatedly. D. When the hostess's daughter realizes that "book clubs aren't really to discuss books, but to get away from your families and have fun." Yes, another secret of womanhood! E. When the term "Bless her heart" takes on secret meaning. F. When more than one husband realizes his wife isn't home after midnight and starts calling around to find her. G. When you know you should get home -- should have left hours ago -- but just can't make yourself go.

H. When it is waaay more than a book club.

I. All of the above! Thanks for a fabulous time, ladies! Who said Anna Karenina is too dreary for summer?

I am so glad you have found a fun book club. Not much better than friends to chat with.

Suzanne,
I read the book a few years ago and sisn't enjoy it enough to re-read it, so I may have been part of the problem with being focused. Hard to believe, I know!

Melia -- good friends, a book, good conversation -- that's the good life! What are you guys (gals) reading now? M

That would be "didn't enjoy it", not "sisn't enjoy it!"

The book club I'm in started about four years ago and we were all really good about reading and having themed get togethers and discussing the books. But about a year ago we started to fizzle out and some would read and some wouldn't, it was just fun to get together. We have since dropped the books all together and now just hang out once a week from 9-11ish talking. We have been talking about reading a book lately, but it sure is nice to just hang out with the girls for no other reason than just hanging out!

Glad you had a good time at your girls night!!

Ok I'm officially jealous. I've always wanted to be in a book club! Sounds like lots of fun.
